There was solid growth in the value of the fresh portions sector,
which increased by 8.5%, and consumption rose by 8.9%. |

There was a big reduction -9.7% in the amount of frozen raw chicken
consumed by consumers, although the value rose by 8.6% as a result
of price consolidation. Overall, the raw chicken sector saw sterling
sales rise by 1.5%, while volumes sold fell by 0.6%. |

|
Raw whole bird sales fell by 6.3% in volume and 4.6% in value, due
to the huge drop in consumption of frozen chicken. There was good
news for fresh chicken, which rose 3.5% in volume, and remained static
in value. |
|
|
A big increase in demand for cooked chicken, rising 22% in value and 12.9% in volume, saw the sector continue the amazing growth of recent years. |
